Week 1
May 27, 2020

Because it is very relevant to all of us, we will use our experiences of the last 8 weeks as the subject for our first piece of writing. Thinking about the words ‘Isolation, distance, solitude’ write down your thoughts, a story, a poem, a diary entry, anything you like, but don’t make it longer than about 400 words.

Resources

Each week has a particular theme, with a relevant piece of writing for us to read through and discuss. We do a couple of exercises to get our brains going and then we write!

There will be the opportunity to bring in a piece of writing on a given subject each week. Respond to this subject by writing down your thoughts, a story, a poem, a diary entry, anything you like, but don’t make it longer than about 400 words. You will find this week’s subject above.

We would love you to join our group online, so we can all get writing together again. We will meet weekly on zoom.

If you don’t feel like writing anything beforehand don’t worry at all, please join us anyway.

About Theresa:

My name is Theresa and I live in Camberwell on the other side of Burgess Park. I am a writer, a poet and currently studying creative writing at Birkbeck University.

About three weeks before we went into lock down, I started a creative writing group at the Walworth Living Room. There were five of us and we met on a Wednesday lunchtime for an hour and a half or so. It was great!
